Meet Dr. Amanda

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

Greetings! My name is Dr. Amanda. I am a Licensed Psychologist and I am thrilled to be starting my own practice to serve my community. My aspiration is to assist youth, adults, and families in understanding themselves and their challenges more deeply. Creating real connections while helping individuals develop strategies to overcome setbacks, change patterns of behavior, improve their relationships, and increase their quality of life. Most importantly, I want to give clients tools to successfully navigate life's ups and downs. Some of my clinical interests include treating anxiety and depressive disorders, stress reduction, mindfulness, working with clients with self-harm potential, and coaching parents of teens.

I grew up in the Tampa Bay area, and attended the University of Florida for college and the University of South Florida (USF) for my doctoral degree in School Psychology. My studies and practical experiences at USF emphasized school-based mental health services. I completed my doctoral internship with Hillsborough County Schools and subsequently worked for the district for four years. I also gained experience with a variety of age groups in private practice settings. I currently serve as a mental health consultant for a federal residential job training program where my duties include developing their mental health program, providing mental health assessment and treatment, and delivering training and consultation services to staff.

A little bit more about me personally. My family and I have lived in St. Petersburg for five years. In addition to being a psychologist, I am a mom to two elementary-age children. My kids teach me so much about the world with their constant inquiries and endless wonder. They also continue to teach me important lessons about myself. I enjoy frequenting the areas beautiful beaches and parks, going for bike rides, cooking and baking, attending music concerts, and soaking up quality time with family and friends.

In my career I have been incredibly fortunate to work with inspiring kiddos and adults. It is a privilege to assist individuals and families in growing in their understanding of difficulties and supporting them in developing the skills and confidence to overcome challenges. I look forward to developing more of these rewarding relationships and assisting more individuals and families.
